Parenting tip FOR IMPROVING FEELING AWARENESS
Feelings are signals, some are loud, some are soft. Some seem to creep up on us from no where. Being aware of feelings, particularly negative feelings when they first begin to make their presence known is a major emotional fitness skill.
To improve your feeling awareness, stop periodically during the day to ask yourself, what am I feeling right now. Ask the question several times, wait for the answer; see if it changes.
Also ask yourself why this feeling at this time.
Thinking about what you are feeling is a major step to staying in control of negative feelings. These two questions not only increase your feeling awareness, but also help you identify how various situations lead to various feelings.
Parenting is difficult and often a struggle as you must know by now. All sorts of feelings surface. Learning as much as you can about how feelings announce their presence and what situations lead to negative feelings will strengthen your ability to stay strong.
If you’re having a hard time, controlling negative feelings. my advice is not to ignore that, get professional help.
