When we walk like (we are rushing), we print anxiety and sorrow on the earth. We have to walk in a way that we only print peace and serenity on the earth… Be aware of the contact between your feet and the earth. Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.”

 Thich Nhat Hanh

Soon I will be signing off for the weekend. That is one way I stay strong.  I use the time to take care of me and mine.   Thich Nhat Hanh wants us to walk in peace every day, every hour, every minute, every step.  A worthy goal, but not all of us can attain that level of perfection.  But we can move toward it by consciously taking time to walk in a more peaceful now.  That is why there are weekends, holidays, vacations, special days for celebrating one thing or another.

This weekend is also Father’s Day in the USA.  Every day should be father’s day, just as every step should be made in peace, and we should always be able to dance in the rain.  Not possible for all.  Still, the more you can do any of these things, the more you strengthen the ability to walk in peace or dance in the rain.

Take some time this coming week end, to honor your father; he gave you life.  If he lives and is part of your life on earth, thank him from your heart.

If he is not longer on the earth, honor him by recalling the good he gave you.  Let any hurt, rest in his grave.

If you are among those abused by a father, that also speaks of a great sadness and loss in his life.  Do not tolerate abuse, but work toward being better than.

If you are among those unfortunate few who have not been blessed with a father’s presence, know the loss was his.  Honor the others who have loved you, mentored you, and taught you.

Also, make time just for you, time when you do only what you want.  You must honor your needs if you are to care for others.

If you know another who might benefit from reading this post share it.  Kindness is its own reward.

I work at it all the time.
