Just posted my 100th post on my Parents Are People Blog. Patting myself on the back and celebrating by adding this brief post on goals.
I started my Parents Are People Too blog to share my knowledge about being a good enough parent. My original goal was to post everyday. Knew that wouldn’t happen, but also that it would spur me bit and model being good enough instead of perfect.
Those of you who follow me, know I think the media and parenting gurus create the idea that if parents just do the right thing children will be healthy, wealthy, and wise. Worse are the celebrity parents doling out advice. Bah humbug.
Parents matter but other things matter too and expecting more than is reasonable hurts all. We are told to have reasonable expectations for our kids, but those same gurus don’t have reasonable expectations when it comes to parents and all others caring for children.
PARENTING ADVICE
Tip one: Set reasonable goals for yourself and your child, make them challenging, but remember what you control and do not control.
Tip two: Do what you can. When it is the best you can do, congratulate yourself. Less than you best, that is okay too. Not at all good, forgive yourself as long as you no one suffered major tissue damage or you bruised another’s heart on purpose.
Tip three: Remember The Mission: bring peace to your part of the world, means doing what you can, being as kind and caring as you can, forgiving many including yourself.
STAY STRONG
Parenting is difficult and often a struggle as you must know by now. When you stay in charge of your negative feelings, your child/ren will benefit too. I urge you to develop Emotional Fitness Training™ skills and share your success with others.
You can also practice kindness by liking, commenting, or sharing my posts. I promise kindness is always rewarded in one way or another.
As always, thank you for your support, it means a great deal to me.

DISCLAIMER: FORGIVE MY GRAMMATICAL ERRORS FOR I HAVE DYSGRAPHIA. If you need perfect posts, you will not find them here. I have dysgraphia which means that sometimes my sentence structure is not that easy to follow or I make other errors. Still, most people understand me. All of my books are professionally edited, but not all of my blog posts are. Thanks for your understanding and reading my work.
